Public-Health-Driven Microfluidic Technologies: From Separation to Detection

نویسندگان

چکیده

Separation and detection are ubiquitous in our daily life they two of the most important steps toward practical biomedical diagnostics industrial applications. A deep understanding working principles examples separation enables a plethora applications from blood test air/water quality monitoring to food safety biosecurity; none which irrelevant public health. Microfluidics can separate detect various particles/aerosols as well cells/viruses cost-effective easy-to-operate manner. There number papers reviewing microfluidic detection, but best knowledge, topics normally reviewed separately. In fact, these themes closely related with each other perspectives health: or sorting technique will lead development new methods, thereby providing paths guide routes. Therefore, purpose this review paper is two-fold: reporting latest developments application microfluidics for outlining emerging research detection. The dominating microfluidics-based passive methods discussed, along future challenges being discussed. Our work inspires novel benefits

Gravity-driven microfluidic particle sorting device with hydrodynamic separation amplification.

This paper describes a simple microfluidic sorting system that can perform size profiling and continuous mass-dependent separation of particles through combined use of gravity (1 g) and hydrodynamic flows capable of rapidly amplifying sedimentation-based separation between particles. Operation of the device relies on two microfluidic transport processes: (i) initial hydrodynamic focusing of par...

From microdroplets to microfluidics: selective emulsion separation in microfluidic devices.

Microdroplets show great promise as a new high-throughput technology in chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. Microdroplets can be generated at rates in excess of several thousands per second and accurately formulated using minute amounts of small molecules, DNA, proteins, or cells. Furthermore, integrated active elements can be used to control individual droplets. With the technology...
